Parker Kligerman Turns "Magical Lap" for Kansas Pole Position

October 3, 2009

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (October 3, 2009) – Parker Kligerman, driver of the Penske Racing No. 22 Penske Truck Rental Dodge Charger in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, will make his NASCAR racing debut this afternoon in the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway starting from the pole position.

“I have to thank Roger Penske, the entire Penske Racing organization and our sponsors for the opportunity to make my first NASCAR start today,” said Kligerman. “When I went out on track, the Penske Truck Rental Dodge felt great. It was just a magical lap.”

Kligerman, a 19-year-old native of Westport, Conn., currently races full-time in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and is a development driver for Penske Racing, in association with Cunningham Motorsports. Kilgerman earned his eighth ARCA RE/MAX victory of the season on Thursday at Kansas Speedway and currently trails series points leader Justin Lofton by 15 points headed into the final race of the season.

Required to qualify on time, Kligerman was the 37th competitor to make a qualifying attempt. He posted a fast-lap time of 31.254 seconds at a speed of 172.778 miles per hour capturing the pole position for his first-ever NASCAR race.

"It’s been a very exciting day for me and the entire Penske Truck Rental team,” said Kligerman. “I really don’t think our plans for the day have changed even though we are on the pole. We are here to run laps, learn all that we can and have fun doing it. This is a great opportunity for me and I hope we have a good finish to show for our efforts today.”

Coverage of the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway will air live on the ESPN2 television network on Saturday, October 3 beginning at 3 p.m. EDT and will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio.
